When working with laser systems of class 3R and higher, severe damage to the human eye can occur. The human eye can be permanently damaged by direct or indirect laser radiation. Injuries to the retina mostly occur in the range of 400-1400nm, while defects on the cornea or lens occur in the UV range (190-400nm). Therefore, it is essential to protect the eyes accordingly with the help of suitable laser safety glasses. The laser safety glasses certified according to the valid standard DIN EN 207 (full protection) comply with legal regulations and safely protect the eyes from dangerous laser radiation. Laser safety glasses and the filters they contain are designed to absorb the specific energy of the laser. Therefore, the optimal protective goggles must be explicitly selected for the required wavelength range, the radiation peak value, and the required optical density. Of course, daylight transmission, the field of view, and the wearing comfort of the frame also play a decisive role. The frame of the laser safety glasses prevents the lateral penetration of laser beams.
